For over 25 years, KDHX has consistently showcased the best of Saint Louis’ arts and culture, serving as a presenter and promoter of independent music, non-profit and arts organizations, street-level arts and culture, and independent film. -
The new center will be named in honor of Larry J. Weir, who joined KDHX as operations manager in 1987 and continued in that role until his untimely death in 2010. Larry was a champion for emerging and established artists and understood the power of independent voices to connect people and build communities. He trained many of the volunteers who have contributed to KDHX over the years. -
KDHX connects 85,000 weekly listeners, 90,400 monthly web visitors, 70,000 annual event attendees, and 1,000 volunteers (including 125 volunteer DJs), to engage in conversations about the arts, connect and energize our community. 
Service to artists along with arts and non-profit organizations is a key component of KDHX programming. Each year, KDHX donates over $1 million in free publicity through public service announcements, calendar listings, event sponsorships, and arts reviews. KDHX also engages in collaborative programs with the Missouri History Museum, Sheldon Concert Hall, Kemper Art Museum, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Grand Center, Earth Day, and many others.
The Larry J. Weir Center for Independent Media will meet critical needs with the space and equipment needed to accommodate all that KDHX does on-air, online, and in the community, and give KDHX the ability to experiment and innovate in the future.
The new home of KDHX will welcome audiences, artists, and volunteers as an arts destination. On the first floor, a cafe, bar, and 125-seat venue serve as an inviting space for independent music, film, theater, community, and other programming.
The Larry J. Weir Center will double KDHX’s broadcast studios and launch an HD2 channel. The center will also triple production space, including a live performance studio to accommodate the 200 artists that visit KDHX each year.
